A person who laced treats with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the location in the summer month.

The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.

She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She said the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.

Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his family member had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained items including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.

She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"The police had not gone out by that point," she added.

The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities a second time.

She said the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five children.
