'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

There's no doubt why Arsenal have become numerous fans' favorites to win the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race last season.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a crucial element why they are seeming ready to at last realize their title ambition.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals allowed (3), attempts against (72), shots on target faced (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is well known, but competing clubs still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these chances.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents face difficulties. This marks the premier instance at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having spent around £250m on eight summer additions in pursuit of that long-awaited first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and pundits have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now functioning with confidence and purpose.
